The three-day long orientation programme for the first year Engineering students was inaugurated in the college Seminar hall on 31 August, 2009. The programme began with the solemn lighting of the lamp by Dr. D.L. Prabhakara, the Principal, Dr. A.J.Antony Vice Principal, Mr. Devadas Hegde, the trustee in the presence of the heads of the various departments. At the outset, the Principal gave an overview of the college, faculty, infrastructure and the future plans of the institution. The vice-principal Dr. A.J. Antony briefed about the code of conduct. Prof.S.S Balakrishna, Dean(Planing & Development) welcomed and briefed about the future plans. Mrs. Nayana N. Patil, the Student Welfare Officer briefed the students on rules & regulations of the college. Prof. B.K. Prabhakar, coordinator of this orientation programme proposed the Vote of thanks. The co-cordinator of the orientation programme Mrs. Vishal Samartha compeered the programme. Experts from industry and academia addressed the students during the next two days of the orientation programme. Eminent personalities like Prof.Samaga, Former Prof. & HOD ( Mech), NITK, and Prof.Gonsalves, Principal, St.Joseph Engineering college , Vamanjoor, Mangalore were experts from academia. Mrs.Manjusha Bhatnagar, HR Manager, MRPL addressed the students on the challenges the students have to face from the industry and how they should equip themselves to face such situations.
